It was powered by the 145-hp, 16-valve, 2-liter Lotus 907 twin-cam engine that was fitted to the Elite, and it had a 7,000 rpm redline. By way of comparison a TR6 of the same period offered only 105 hp and the MGB barely 80. Top speed was approximately 125 mph, with 0-60 coming up in 8 seconds, and a quarter mile in 16 seconds. This Lotus power plant is controlled by the 4-speed manual gear box.
