DESCRIPTION
1959 Dodge Sierra Station Wagon
PRICE JUST LOWERED $5,000! NOW ONLY $29,990. Extremely rare survivor MOPAR (suddenly it's 1960, forward look automobile). Great condition overall, but not perfect. This (huge) wagon sure does have a commanding presence and truly awesome looks! It is as big as it is beautiful and is ready to be fully enjoyed just as is.
Almost 100% original except for a black repaint. Paint may need correction work to address minor flaws (chips, cracks, thinning, etc.) on a couple of small areas. Although not currently needed, a new repaint might be contemplated in order to bring this beautiful automobile to the absolute highest level. Chrome (tons of), stainless and pot metal - as well as hubcaps - are in near excellent condition. 100% original interior is in very good to good overall condition considering its age. Noticeable upholstery wear and damage (tears) are visible on the front bench seating areas. The rear seat and other upholstered surfaces are nearly flawless. Door panels are in good to great (but not perfect) condition; front armrests are fair. Driver side lower kick panel is off and is currently stored under the front seat. The rear cargo area is in good to fair condition. Hardboard wheel wells side covers are somewhat brittle and show cracking in places.
The wagon is believed to be the six-passenger model as the floor panel(s) in the cargo area do not appear to access a foldable (rumble) seat; just a storage compartment. The tailgate window works, but is a bit slow; tracks likely need to be conditioned/lubricated. The headliner is in very good original condition for its age and is without any damage. The carpet and "fuzzies" are ok; could be replaced due to wear and/or age. Some minor repairs and/or upholstery replacement would bring the car to the absolute highest level.
Chrome, pot metal and stainless steel parts/components in the front dash and instrument panel are in great condition, including the steering wheel; looks just awesome while sending the observer back in time.
The wagon is powered by the original 361 c.u. "Ram Fire" V8, rated at 320 HP, Carter 2 barrel carburator and 3-speed push button 727 Torque-Flite automatic transmission. The car starts at a turn of the key; it runs and drives smoothly and beautifully - what a pleasure! Mechanically strong and dependable, it is showing 29,718 miles on the odometer. True mileage is unknown (quite possibly 129,718)?
New valve job done in 2010, as well as a gas tank restoration, including a new fuel pump and sending unit also performed in 2010. New brake job (cylinders, shoes, etc.) done in 2008. Control arm and idler arm bushings replaced also in 2008. A complete tune-up (plugs, wires, rotor cap, points, condenser including a complete carburetor rebuilt) also completed in 2008. All work done by the previous collector.
The car has been very well maintained since. Overall, although not perfect and needing some cosmetic improvements, it is assuredly a very beautiful and reliable driver quality wagon ready to be enjoyed. Quite rare and seldom seen and/or offered for sale to boot. Don't miss your chance to own this really cool classic automobile.
Of note, this car was used in the filming of the movie "The Secret Life of Bees" in 2008, making cameo appearances.
Altogether a very nice automobile ready to be fully enjoyed as is and/or improved to the next level as desired. Now re-offered at only $29,990 - Just lowered $5,000 from $34,990! (slightly negotiable for the serious and appreciative buyer). Arguably a most reasonable price for such an iconic and rare automobile. Payment via certified bank wire only.
